Golf // Why you need a good core for Golf

As we all know, Golf can be a very complex game and not many understand what muscles they need activated the most during a swing. During a golf swing you are using 14 muscles all at once, You are also repeating the same movement over and over again, as a result you might start feeling fatigued and weak which causes an imbalance! If you are feeling lower back pain, knee pain or shoulder pain then you might want to consider the below.

Lets break up a golf swing to digest the problems.

The Set up: The most important part of the swing is your set up. Most golfers do not understand that the alignment, balance and flexion of the body is the key before even hitting the ball. The pressure on both your feet need to be even and adjusted if they are not. If you are set up correctly before a swing then it will help avoid stress on the spine and to help establish a proper position for the rest of the swing.

The Back Swing: This is where some of the power will come from, As you rotate your torso you also lift your arms up before you lower them. Keeping in mind that the pressure of your feet will alter over to the swinging side.

The Down Swing: During your down swing is when all the power is going to come into balance, as you rotate through the spine and shoulders you need to ensure you are maintaining stability.

The Follow Through: As you follow through and hit the golf ball your hips will rotate to the front of the golf course, Through this step you still need to maintain balance through the feet and body but also a nice posture.
